Haze Posts on FB
1. The real difficulties faced by real people on the ground. Instead of complaining, blame and playing political hardball, why not send firefighters and resources to assist in cleanup and putting out the fire?
"Firefighters from a number of plantation companies, including local residents, are making efforts to extinguish the fires. However, they are facing difficulties in controlling it because of water shortages and strong winds."
And a little perspective: "Singapore and Malaysian palm oil companies which he said also use the "slash and burn" method of clearing land."

2. Think about your elderly. Dad, mum, uncle, aunt, grandpa or grandma.
3. While the Jakarta Post ''Indonesian minister hits out at Singapore'' is sensational and provocative, it serves to highlight that the haze issue is not merely an environmental issue.
It is a multilateral issue with diplomatic and commercial ramifications.
It is a humanitarian issue because there are many common folk like you and I who can't move out of Riau at short notice, but can only endure at ground zero.
In Singapore, we have air con. We can easily access educational institutions, cafes, shopping centres, libraries and public establishments for free. We can afford to purchase masks of different designs to complement our dressing. We do not experience the direct heat of the burning forest at our prescint. We have better equipped hospitals should any respiratory or cardiovascular problems arise.
That is not to minimize the problems due to the haze, or to absolve the culprits of any wrongdoing.
It is simply a call to appreciate what we already have, and to appeal to those who simply lay blame on ordinary Indonesians for the current predicament.
We need to keep a cool head and assess the evolving situation before we jump to any conclusions.
