The Hope of Glory
Colossians 1:27 "To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory..."
The theology of glory is often relegated as a footnote to the message of love and grace, yet it is instrumental to a persevering faith that will last till the end of our earthly sojourn.
It is one thing to feel a dose of warm comfort in our hearts, but it is an entirely different matter to be struck in awe of Christ. For the former, the moment mattered. For the latter, nothing else matters.
Against the backdrop of Glory, the verses in Romans 8:17-21, 2 Corinthians 4:17, Ephesians 1:18-21 and Hebrews 6:18-20 exhorts and encourages one to contemplate the privilege worthy of our utmost perseverance.
Glory makes fanatic promoters out of those who encounter it. Standing in awe of Him, it is scarcely impossible to contain the cumulation of celebration, destiny, hope and many more. It is in the light of His glorious grace that we sing, dance and worship freely, being confident that "He who began the good work in us will bring it to completion" (Philippians 1:6).
Glory points us to the corporate relationship between Christ and His bride (the church). It teaches us to love the church (its people, not just the organisation or building), warts and all.
Glory beckons us to give ourselves fully to Him, knowing that we have received treasures in "jars of clay, that the excellence of power displayed will be of Him and not of us" (2 Corinthians 4:7).
I spend my life to know, but I'm far from close - to all You are, the greatness of our God.
