"I Survived"
Most of us would have come across the phrase "I survived!". And very often in life, we tend to appreciate things in hindsight. The dark days may linger for awhile but these, too, shall pass.
I used to hold on to a survivor's mentality. I'll brace myself when I enter a tough period, and I'll come out of it feeling relieved that I survived.
For awhile, the mentality got me through life. However as I walked with God, it became increasingly apparent that life wasn't meant to be confined to a "I survived" mentality.
Jesus saved me, redeemed me and I am victorious in Him. We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. We are called to an everlasting hope, an eternal glory that far outweighs our sojourn on Earth.
Hope.
Hope.
The virtue of hope changed my world-view. I no longer live under a "I survived" mentality, but eagerly await for His Kingdom to come, His will to be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
I can seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness because I have the eternal hope, sealed in the Spirit, secured in Christ, an anchor for my soul.
I do not live in hindsight, but readily bring prayers and petitions to Him as I encounter challenges and temptations daily. He who began the good work in us is faithful to bring it to completion.
